Alex Acid (Victoria Scone) wants to be a drag star, but has struggled to find her footing in the scene. Meanwhile, Ria Listic (Gigi Zahir) is an eager, queer protester with dreams of saving the planet from climate change. A chance meeting in a jail cell unites this unlikely pair and the drag supergroup “Acid’s Reign” is born! 

However, after years of challenging climate change with their niche drag cabaret, their funding is pulled and they have to turn to an old friend for help. When faced with a chance at fame, the group is presented with a choice; keep fighting for change and risk never playing the big stages, or tuck away your morals for a chance at stardom. 

Acid’s Reign is everything you would expect from a drag musical and more! It’s a camp, flashy, good time with catchy songs, hilarious gags and stellar performances from the powerhouse cast. As the show is a bit longer (1 hour 15 minutes) the audience is offered the opportunity to step further into the world and get to know the characters a bit better, because of this the audience was awarded a truly stand-out performance by Drag King Jamie Fuxx as Micky Steele. 

If you’re looking for great drag with an important message, Acid’s Reign is worth the watch!
