Addicts And Those Who Love Them, behind every addict is someone traumatised by loving them is an incredibly moving exhibition of work by artist Antonia Rolls. In an attempt to understand her own son’s struggle with addiction and the trauma experienced by loving an addict, Rolls paints portraits of her son, other addicts, and those close to them. The voice of each subject shines through in the inclusion of their words on the canvas- their own thoughts on addiction and its impact, creating an intimate conversation with the viewer. The exhibition focuses on central themes of love and the perseverance of those impacted by addiction without a hint of judgment.

The culminating exhibition of these works is a powerful and empathetic humanization of addicts and what it means to love them. Whether or not you are an addict yourself or have had the experience of loving someone who is, Addicts And Those Who Love Them will leave you deeply moved and filled with more compassion and empathy for the world than when you arrived.
