Ali Woods is thirty-one and facing the reality that his youth is in the past. As a millennial, he remembers the times before app dating, when he would go to the clubs and meet women “at source.” The family computer that saw everything but told no one. TGI Fridays helium balloons that float away the minute they hit the night air. Gone are the days when he would have his friends come round to look at the newest gaming console. Now the only time groups of friends get together is to look at a new fancy cooking pot.

Woods compares that TGI Fridays balloon drifting into the distance to his childhood slipping from his fingers, but he relents, many comedians come on stage and complain about their lives, but he doesn’t have much to complain about. He loves his life. 

Ali Woods: Basher felt a bit slow to start, but built up to a really funny show. Woods is known for his relatable humour and easy wit, he has a natural ease on stage that holds the audience’s attention. Each topic seemed to fold effortlessly into the next and then in the end, Woods was able to call back to each of them without it feeling shoehorned in. 

If you know Woods from his sketches or from television, you’ll also love his stand up.
