Captivating, beautiful and emotive. The performers are incredibly dedicated and talented, turning choreography into profound expression. art* / a:t / noun shares a narrative about the conflict between making art or making money. An internal struggle that all artists, writers and creators share. Juxtaposed against the month-long festival of creative performing arts that is the Fringe, it’s an incredibly interesting discourse, if not an ambitious one to consider in a 30-minute performance.

Whilst the overall messaging may be up for interpretation, it did not detract from how mesmerising the performance was. There is story in the movement, music and visual aids, which is powerful and interesting. Among applause and cheers, the Director commented – and I paraphrase – you don’t need to understand everything that was going on. Art is subjective to everyone and if you felt something, that is what’s important. I wholeheartedly agree.

art* / a:t / noun is only on until Saturday 16 August and it is well worth a lunchtime visit.
