Arturo Brachetti’s Solo is a dazzling spectacle. Known for his unparalleled skills in quick-change artistry, Brachetti delivers a performance that feels more like a major touring production than a fringe show. His ability to transform through an impressive array of at least 30 costumes in a single performance is nothing short of extraordinary. At 67, he proves that age is no barrier to show-stopping talent.

Though the show is titled Solo, it’s evident that a vast team is behind the scenes, working tirelessly to ensure the seamless execution of Brachetti’s quick changes and the high production values. The production’s polish and intricate staging highlight the collaborative effort involved, making it clear that this is a performance with substantial support.

Despite some occasional repetition inherent in a quick-change act, the sheer brilliance of Brachetti’s execution keeps the audience spellbound. The show is not only a testament to his skill but also an engaging storytelling experience that is both clever and entertaining. With its family-friendly themes, Solo appeals to a broad audience.

It’s hard to review Solo as a fringe show as in reality it isn’t. I felt sometimes that some of the fringe magic was lost in the large venue and although the show achieved on many levels I feel as though it sometimes felt disconnected from it’s audience. It is however a wonderful show, if you’re a fan of quick change you’ll love this high production extravaganza
