Welcome to Queer Planet, where the natural world is not as binary as you may have been taught. Our host, drag king Bi-Curious George, takes us on a fun and educational journey through drag, drama, and the animal kingdom. 

The audience was welcomed by their enthusiastic and considerate host who immediately cheered on the energy while setting everyone at ease. Reassured that the audience participation was in no way mandatory and all in good, gentle fun, may have encouraged even more willing participation that was all well-guided and entertaining.

Bi-Curious George is as earnest as he is passionate, with a genuine love for nature in all its variety as well as queer identity. I feel like this show should have also been tagged “educational,” as the jokes were all based on humorously presented, very accessible research. The use of media and inclusion of pop culture and interviews also created some nuanced layers along with visual punchlines. I was invested in the material, as well as the energetic performer.

Bi-Curious George had the audience rooting for him, celebrating the highs and lows of animal romance with endearing characters brought to life by creative costumes that made an immediate splash onstage. A standout sketch included a particularly adorable gay penguin and I was surprised and wowed by a sexy fungi lip-sync.
