There is no risk of a post-lunch slump at Bunker One; Jade Frank’s energetic, comic performance will keep you wide-eyed. With only a desk, a phone, and a stool to work with, Frank takes the audience from home comforts to a cold call-centre. The friendly North to an elitist Cambridge. She magics props almost out of thin air while timing laughs to cover the transitions. The number of fantastic one-liners must be highlighted; this script has been beautifully crafted to dive into the many traditions of the Oxbridge universities and to highlight their absurdity. To those curious of what goes on at these (in)famous universities and to those who aren’t, this is a show for you. Most will remember the show for the laughs, but there is a deeper message of classism and prejudice that runs under the surface, making it all the more impressive.

The fantastic direction from Tatenda Shamiso must be mentioned. The movement direction not only overcame the challenges of a minimal set, but added to the hilarity of the performance. It was complemented by the lighting to very effectively transport the audience from one character/place to another, avoiding any confusion in this whirlwind of a piece. The sound effects were well chosen to suit the tone of the show and were very slick. Catch it if you can!
