For many women, the toilet at the club is more than just a place to wee. It’s a place for gossip,
for selfies, for respite from a horrible hinge date, and so much more. April Hope Miller’s FLUSH
takes place entirely in the ladies restroom of a Shoreditch Club.

Three cubicles, lit by fluorescent lighting that often changes when something important is
happening, and covered by graffiti of all kinds serves as the background while different women
filter in and out of the loo.

There’s a group of sixteen year olds who’ve snuck into the club, a hen do, an office fancy dress
party, a woman hiding from her past, another hiding from her awful date, and Billie. Billie’s just
moved to the U.K. from the U.S. for a job and while at a work gathering, something horrible has
happened to her and she’s unsure how to process it.

There were many characters frequenting the loo during the show, all were performed by five
brilliant actresses, they were so natural it almost felt like you were in the toilet alongside them.
The script is written in a way that the stories all effortlessly weave together and slowly reveal
different things about the characters, leading to satisfying payoffs and a heart-wrenching end.

FLUSH is a funny, important and heart-breaking play that will likely leave you teary eyed.
