Returning to the Fringe, How to Win Against History delivers fun and frolics throughout this camp celebration that feels at home at Edinburgh.

Henry Cyril Paget (Seiriol Davies) and Mr Alexander Keith (Matthew Blake) guide us through an energetic hour and a half full of quirks, pizzazz and exuberance. Musical theatre at its best – with witty storytelling throughout alongside large production values to raise it up further.

The live 4-piece on stage band, led by Maestro (Dylan Townley), adds to the enjoyment of the show, with a special shout-out to drummer Harry Miller – you’ve never seen an electric drum kit played with such heart. The musicians could have been used more to tell the story, at times feeling forgotten behind their music stands at the back.

Nevertheless, a joyous celebration of queer theatre that knows exactly what it is and isn’t afraid to embrace it. Go, and let yourself be swept up in the theatrical magic.
