Since being a finalist in 2019 for the “BBC New Comedy Award” and making his TV stand-up debut on Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club the following year, Josh Jones has gone from strength to strength. Following on from two sell out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, the mischievous Manc is at The Tron this month with his new show, Put a Sock in It.

A comedian in his early 30s who has had an epiphany following a few therapy sessions. Josh has realised the importance of focusing on the people that mean the most to him having kept himself busy striving to reach his career goals often to the detriment of his friends and family, by his own admission. His set often harks back to school days with a mix of relatable impressions of teachers and authority figures with
a mix of amusing and heartfelt anecdotes about family and friends which have the audience in stitches at times.

Watching Josh Jones perform live feels like bumping into an excitable close friend who you haven’t seen for a few months, as they desperately try to recount what they have been up to since they don’t have a lot of time to furnish you with the details. At times the narrative arch of the show was very haphazard, and more structure would have improved the performance and helped a lot of the call-backs land better.
