After a hugely successful Fringe debut which won her NextUp’s Biggest Award in Comedy, Lindsey Santoro is back in Edinburgh with her new hilariously relatable show, It Was Like That When I Got Here.
In It Was Like That When I Got Here, Santoro brings the audience into her life by sharing experiences from her giving birth via C-section, or as she referred to it, ‘speedy boarding’, to her own mum and aunties’ oddities, including having access to a vortex to another world, which she, of course, had to come over to help close. Santoro’s oversharing and delivery of her odd yet strangely relatable life stories make the audience feel comfortable, like they’re having a chat with an old friend or have met her in the toilets during a night out.
While the set itself can feel a bit scattered, Lindsey Santoro is the star of the show, making you want to come back for more. Her likeable, energetic nature and infectious laugh immediately win the audience over, making them want to know more of her daft stories and laugh along with her. For anyone who’s just getting introduced to Santoro through this show, It Was Like That When I Got Here will make you want to catch another of her shows or watch her on TV as her star rises, which, due to her infectious nature, seems inevitable.
Lindsey Santoro’s It Was Like That When I Got Here is full of life, relatability and completely daft in the best possible way.
