NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE US

An ensemble takes the stage to tell a story of climate change, grief, resilience, and hope after disaster strikes a friend group, altering their lives forever.

The story is very timely and will resonant particularly with the Gen Z audience who will see themselves reflected on the stage – the ones who are most directly impacted by the looming threats facing the planet as the consequences of inaction come to fruition on the global stage. The young actors play their roles with commitment. Though the performances vary in this expansive cast, standout actors include the character of Becky, who brings complexity and empathy to the role with a deftly humorous hand, and Jess, who presents a refreshingly natural performance to her curiously magical character.

This is a highly ambitious story, with interweaving plot lines, told with sincerity and passion. Though at times it feels overfull, the story is at its most clear and impactful when an individual story gets its time to breathe. A standout emotional moment was a harrowing tale of a soldier’s tragedy. It was a clear illustration of a future destroyed that allowed the horror of the moment to speak the experience directly to the audience with precision.

A commendable work by a young group of artists.
