Ollie is looking for a wife, so he’s decided to give himself a f**kboy glow-up to attract the ladies. Some bronzer, an unbuttoned knit top, tight jeans, and jewellery from Claire’s TM and he’s ready to find love.

As the show is in a yurt, it’s a very close-quarters. The audience is just inches from Ollie and he interacts with them often. There is no green room, so the show starts the moment you enter the yurt, and ends when you exit.

As the audience got seated, Ollie joked in and out of character about his props, music, and forthcoming set. He had a gigantic vape that was plugged into an extension cord to charge; they even had to lower the lighting voltage to support the hefty device.

Most character work shows you’ll see at the Fringe are sticklers for staying in character from start to finish. Ollie is different, he breaks in and out of character to laugh at his own jokes and with the audience, which is refreshing, especially because his f**kboy character is so repugnant. We all know the type! The ones that say they’re a feminist but never let women finish their sentences, the ones who call women ugly the moment they decline an advance, the ones who constantly make sex jokes.

Ollie has “poisoned his brain” in order to nail this character. Though a little disorganised and scatter-brained in presentation, you’ll cringe and laugh then cringe again and laugh again.
