From feeding tradesmen to his loft, to beefing with his barber and the common theme in secular hymns, Pierre Novellie’s unfailingly unique perspective cements him as the safest pair of hands in comedy.

William Shakespeare invented thousands of words and idioms that we still use across the globe today. With each show Pierre Novellie creates, he introduces at least a dozen phrases that rival the Bard’s mastery of language. After seeing Okay, One More Then Bedtime, it’s inevitable that you too will adopt some of his idiosyncratic sayings. It’s hard to remember how we managed to properly express ourselves before hearing ‘expecting rats, hoping for parrots’ for the first time.

Novellie describes his honeymoon to Japan as heaven for autists due to the country’s etiquette conventions: “Learn the rules and you could be right until you died.” The trip is the central story from which unforgettable anecdotes are delivered in his signature unsentimental manner. His hysterical observations are occasionally punctuated by his Horn of Autism which he honks to signal a fact rather than a joke so we know not to anticipate something funny. The squeak it produces however, means it always is.

While we may have been unable to judge what Pierre thought about his performance due to his “resting rage face,” he certainly knew how the audience felt. Responding to our cheers in classic Novellie fashion, he simply stated: “I accept your woos.”
