Rhys Darby begins the show by describing the state of the world as a terrible carriage ride led
by the AI horsemen of the apocalypse. Everyone else is holding on for dear life wondering
“What the f***?!” Setting the main theme for the show: creativity needs to be protected and
supported over AI at all costs.

At 51, Darby’s feeling old, especially when he walks into the kitchen and forgets why he walked
in there at all. Adorned in his signature skinny jeans, he’s struggled to keep up with the ever
changing world. In a world of “cyber boys” driving around cyber trucks, Darby misses the time of
“hoverboards” and dreads the day Musk puts robots into all of our homes against our will.

Rhys Darby: The Legend Returns is a hilarious look at the state of our world today, Darby
joyously commands the stage and has the audience laughing the whole way through. The show
really stretches the definition of “stand-up” as Darby not only uses jokes, but also impressions,
sound effects, mimeing and beat boxing, to take the audience on a wild ride through 2025 and
beyond.
