The North Wall have brought a very special show to the Fringe this year – a tale of two best friends, Rosie and Hugh the Hedgehog. The adventure they go on together is on the last day of their summer holidays. Featuring songs by CBeebies’ Nick Cope, a dragon on a bike, a friendly polar bear, a squirrel with a wobbly tooth, and even a robot named Ralph. 

We follow Rosie and Hugh on their mission to make every day the last day of the summer holidays. They journey to find the witch who can cast a spell to make this possible! Of course, making new friends along the way, all of whom they learn something from. It has a strong message of embracing differences and how individuality should be celebrated. With courage, kindness, and hope, anything is possible.

The sections of audience engagement within the show were great, particularly the last song of the performance where the audience were given actions to do along with the cast, “wiggle your fingers”, “wiggle your toes”. It was clear everyone was really enjoying it. If more such moments of audience engagement were added to the show, especially earlier on, the experience would only become even more enjoyable for all. 

It is the perfect choice for a family day out if you have 3–8 year-olds. Observing the crowd around me, however, the adults in the room seemed to find the show just as entertaining. Don’t miss it!
