Spirit of Glasgow Award winner Susie McCabe brings her sharp Scottish wit to Edinburgh in her new show Merchant of Menace. Having won Best New Show at Leicester Comedy Festival 2024, and the prestigious Sir Billy Connolly ‘Spirit of Glasgow’ Award at Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2024, McCabe is a highly-acclaimed comedian.

Fresh from her BBC Scotland stand-up special, McCabe is back with another brilliant show at the Edinburgh Fringe festival and we’d expect nothing less. Merchant of Menace explores the world McCabe now finds herself in, mingling with people she would never normally associate with.

From tales of “prosecco friends” misbehaving at bottomless brunches to mistaking turn-down service at the Balmoral Hotel for a Hansel and Gretel / Ted Bundy situation, McCabe has the audience howling throughout her set. Her creative storytelling brings characters to life; the ‘Great Bethlehem Bake Off’ and a reimagined ‘A Christmas Carol’ characters were particular audience favourites. McCabe’s ability to connect with her audience, regardless of age, is remarkable.

Whether discussing music festivals or feeling out of place at Waitrose, McCabe’s carefully crafted storytelling keeps the audience in the palm of her hands. A hilarious show from one of Scotland’s best acts.
