Taiwan Season: I Am The BOSS

Words: Haneul Lee

4 Stars

“Taiwan Season: I Am The BOSS” by 0471 Acro Physical Theatre is a delightful mix of chaos and charm, perfect for audiences of all ages. The show follows three unsupervised children who turn their home into a playground of mischief. While simple enough for children to enjoy, the impressive acrobatics and dynamic physical theatre keep adults equally entertained.

The performance begins with playful audience interaction before launching into an energetic introduction full of hip-wiggling and stunts. The story unfolds through physical comedy and expressive movement, each sequence highlighted by creative choreography and slapstick humour.

The storylines are easy to follow yet packed with entertaining physicality. From a hilarious insect hunt to a mock battle over snacks, the performers keep the energy high. A standout moment involves an acrobat seemingly plummeting towards the audience, only to be caught at the last second, drawing giggles and cheers from children and adults alike.

One scene, where the sister is left wallowing under blue lighting after a fight over snacks, lingers a bit too long but is balanced by the heartwarming reconciliation that follows, marked by a shift to warmer lighting. The show concludes with the performers stepping into the audience, engaging children with bubble guns and even inviting one on stage for a (safe but also fun!) lift.

Blending acrobatics, comedy, and audience interaction, “I Am The BOSS” is a joyous spectacle that leaves both children and adults smiling from ear to ear.
