Ten Thousand Hours by Gravity & Other Myths is an awe-inspiring display of acrobatic brilliance, skilfully blending contemporary dance, strength, and charm into a mesmerising hour long performance. The show begins with the subtle tension of silent, rhythmic music and the ticking of a digital clock that dominates the back wall, setting the tone for an exploration of physical mastery.

The choreography seamlessly fuses contemporary dance with jaw-dropping acrobatics, often stacking performers three high in formations that defy gravity. Moments of playful comedy interlace with the intense physicality, eliciting genuine laughter from the audience. It’s evident that the troupe of eight share an incredible bond of trust; they move as a single entity, each supporting the other with unwavering confidence.

What sets this performance apart is its authenticity. Mistakes occur, but they’re embraced as part of the journey, offering the audience a candid glimpse into the rawness of the craft. The minimalistic yet thoughtful staging and lighting keep the focus squarely on the performers’ talents, eliminating any unnecessary distractions.

It’s an incredibly difficult skill to make something so challenging look effortless, yet they do it with such ease. More than once, I found myself saying “WOW” out loud. Ten Thousand Hours is a fresh, original tribute to the dedication and joy of perfecting one’s craft, a must-see for dance and acrobatics enthusiasts alike.
