Back with another campy classic to be, this regal rendition firmly crowns Awkward Prods as Fringe royalty. 

Linus Karp, dusts off his holier-than-thou lilt for Prince Elian, heir of Swedonia who must quickly wed to keep his country-known for flat furniture and pop royalty BAAB-out of the clutches of its enemy, Findonia. 

In keeping with wedding tradition, the show definitely has ‘something old’, building on all of the best loved elements of their past shows (puppets, musical interludes, and stilted audience participation), while still finding ways to surprise and delight with lots of ‘something new’s. 

Cheesy Hallmark romances with predictable plots prove to be rich in spoofable material which the duo extract expertly. The clumsy exposition endemic in this film genre is perfectly suited to their deadpan delivery and talent for embellishing the ridiculous. 

For the show’s ‘something borrowed’, loyal fans of Awkward Prods are rewarded with familiar faces (both celebrity and cardboard). The musical performances are particularly strong, with McMurder’s ballad being oddly charming, even moving. 

Despite being a uniquely brilliant show, it’s the audience that are the ‘something blue’ when they realise upon leaving the theatre that BAAB’s chart-topping hits including ‘The Loser Gets Nothing’ and ‘Is Your Father Aware’ are not immediately available to stream.
