A little boy tries to stick up for a local forest under threat of being cut down after he learns about the importance of trees and the stories they have to share in “The Truth About Trees.” As he struggles to communicate to his community why they should care about the fate of the trees, he finds that the trees themselves have endurance and strength far beyond his expectations.  

A talented and welcoming cast of three take on a variety of characters with versatility and warmth, embodying distinct personas with clear physicality and playful voices. The humour of the performances and writing is genuinely funny for audiences of all ages, with gentle comedic physical gags and unexpected punchlines. But it is the sincerity of the story that truly connects the audience to the conflict, and the sincerity of this story and this cast is very endearing. The troupe takes its narrative seriously and approaches its environmental themes with a quiet engaging passion. 

The actors’ commitment and subtle joy in their work is lovely to watch and kept even the smallest audience members invested through the entirety of the narrative-focused show. The puppetry aspects added a visually engaging touch, enhancing the world and creating a tangible reality. 

An earnest show with a talented and professional cast and quietly passionate environmentalist message.
