This show is full of the unexpected in the best and most captivating way. Trans People Are Awful tells the story of a trans man who is murdering cis-men to steal their body parts and achieve the perfect transition. Convincingly developing and playing a character who is so extreme and lacking in compassion is a real challenge, which Watt not only rises to, but he is outstanding in his portrayal. The pace and precision of his delivery is flawless and every moment of repetition feels purposeful and character-building. The way in which Watt later manages to bring out vulnerability is impressively authentic and believable, which is no small feat in its contrast to the heightened state he is in from the start.

Watt’s talent knows no bounds, as he wrote the script as well as performing it. His writing gives the audience the joy of being taken on a rollercoaster throughout the piece, incorporating different styles and content, including countless brilliant one-liners and an audience singalong – all of which feels fitting to the piece. The costume, sound effects, and props perfectly complement this approach, leaning into the gruesome and disturbing in an innovative way that leaves you wanting more. This show is so unique in the depth of meaning and messages that it brings in such a playful way. The team have achieved a really special and standout show which offers something for everyone; make sure to grab a ticket before it sells out.
